E-mail: katherinac@gmail.com The aim of this work was evaluate the activity of Rosmarinus officinalis L. against the ectoparasites Ctenocephalides felis felis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Rhipicephalus microplus. The in vitro assays was realized according Drummond et al. (1973) using engorged females opposite of R. microplus and R. sanguineus, and impregnation filter paper test for C. felis felis. The crude extract of R. officinalis was obtained by maceration and their chemical composition was assessed by pharmacognostical analysis. The phytochemical analysis showed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, terpenes and saponins. Dilutions of the crude extract were prepared in several concentrations (range between 78 and 40,000 ppm). The results showed that the crude extract of R. officinalis was activity with dose-dependent effect in vitro for C. f. felis with efficacy of 95%. The efficacy for R. microplus was 28.50% and 45.33% for R. sanguineus.
