[Nylon clamp as an alternative hemostatic method compared to surgical nylon suture in bitches ovariosalpingohisterectomy.] Braçadeira de náilon como método hemostático alternativo em comparação com o fio de náilon cirúrgico na ovariosalpingohisterectomia de cadelas. E-mail: jmcn@ufba.br In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the nylon tie strap as hemostatic method in ovariohysterectomy in bitches as compared to conventional ligature with surgical nylon, was measured up the inflammatory response resulting from surgical trauma, through the evaluation of white blood cells count and dosage of C-reactive protein, haptoglobin and ceruloplasmin. Were used 14 healthy and anestrous bitches, distributed into two groups of equal number: nylon tie strap group (GB) and nylon group (GN). The obliteration of the vascular components of the uterus and ovaries was performed in GB with the use of nylon tie straps and group GN with ligatures and surgical nylon. For laboratory analysis, the blood samples were collected before the procedure, immediately after surgery, and at 12, 24, 48, 96, 168 and 240 hours of postoperative observation. During surgery, nylon tie straps similar behavior in the two experimental groups, without consistent changes that would make the techniques impracticable, there was no statistically significant difference (p <0.05) in the parameters tested. It was concluded that the nylon tie straps are a safe and viable alternative for prior hemostasis ovariohysterectomy in bitches.
