We analyzed 84 samples collected in expansion tanks or drums, coming from 84 herds in 19 counties. In each farm received a questionnaire. The survey of antimicrobials in milk was performed with Charm Cowside Kit II®. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. It was found that 12 (14.29%) milk samples were positive. The only variable significantly associated with the presence of antimicrobial residues in milk was the type of milking (p=0.038) with a predominance of positive results in the technique of milking the foot. We conclude that the presence of antimicrobial residues in raw milk was detected in over 50% of the municipalities of the region of Garanhuns. The drugs frequently used in dairy cattle in the region belong to tetracyclines and aminoglycosides.
